Connection Bubbles

Data on workers' roles and work histories have traditionally only been available to HR and management teams and have been major resources to control workers. We imagine what would happen if this data could be returned to the workers and used for their benefit. Specifically, how can data on individual workers be utilized to foster a sense of “connectedness” among workers?

How can data on individual workers be utilized to foster a sense of “connectedness” among workers?

Communication System

This interactive display depicts the workers’ overall connections on a warehouse layout. Each worker is depicted as a dot on a map while line weights (strong or weak) connect the dots and show the different types of relationships between the workers. Instead of feeling like they are working alone in a vast warehouse, workers can see how their work affects others along the production line. By altering the color and shape of the dots, workers can display their respective work statuses and encourage one another.

Connection Bubbles

With this visualization system in place, as workers go near each other, their bubbles can largely overlap or separate, depending on their commonalities. This would allow FC workers to quickly identify any commonalities they have, such as work responsibilities, years of employment, and current issues in the workplace.

HOW IT WORKS

When workers in the warehouse know more about one another, they would be more likely to exchange pleasant greetings and avoid awkward silences.
